5 Strings Collaborative - Creating a Sanctuary - Five hearts, minds and ten hands
Five Strings Collaborative consists of five artists who have been working together now for fifteen months. Lisa Macarthur Edwards, Lindsay Cameron, Emilia Krumm, Kate Landsberry, Therese Gabriel Wilkins. These five artists bring a multitude of knowledge, artistic endeavour , stories to this collaboration.
Lisa is a painter, sculptor, printmaker, weaver, Lindsay is a painter, weaver, nuno felter, Emilia is a sculptor, painter, Kate is a painter, poet, writer, Therese is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, poet. The Sanctuary, came together over a twelve week period sometimes two days a week . The Sanctuary is an ephemeral piece which is made from a variety of materials - sticks, palm, banana, jute, rope, cane hand woven. The Sanctuary is adorned with treasures from each artist with a sense of place and treasure embedded in the work. Each artist created clay pieces that were then hung inside . The Sanctuary has a special feel and it is attributed to the positive energy of the makers. This interesting and exciting ephemeral work will be on display soon 29th October onwards at Wollombi in the Sculpture in the Vines exhibition. Take time out to walk around the sculpture, view the weaving and treasures contained on and within and to spend time and absorb the positive vibrations of The Sanctuary. Only snippets of the Sanctuary are shown so you will have a surprise when you go down to Wollombi to view it for yourself.
