I am so grateful to have been accepted for an Artist Residency and am hoping to create a body of new work that will one day be on show in Tasmania, King Island, the Central Coast.
My interest is the birds of the island primarily but am really interested in the people, the terrain and the history of this place that was once attached to Tasmania but long ago the natural bridge to it became submerged. Now the only way to arrive is by small plane.
It is a land of stories, of shipwrecks, of a unique group of people who have made the island their home and who have a very strong environmental awareness and especially for the birds of the island some of which are endangered or vulnerable.
I hope that my work will highlight the beauty of not only the island, it fauna and flora but also the people both present and past who made it what it is today.
