These wonderful brave little winged warriors fly all the way from Siberia to mostly the Northern Territory in Australia and a few of them find their way occasionally further south and have been sited in Koorangang Newcastle at different times albeit rare. The Asian Dowitcher are regarded as a threatened species in Northern Territory and are suffering as their mudflats and tidal areas in Indonesia are eroded.
Newcastle Printmakers are having an exhibition in June in relation to this and works will be for sale so with that thought in mind and looking for new ways to interpret an image another print was created.
The first is Chine colle' monoprinting and drypoint etching.
The first is titled Asian Dowitcher in Australia and the second version is Fading from View both works are (c) Trees 2018.
