The Sunshine Coast Council and Mary Cairncross Rainforest Reserve are having an AFTER DARK theme for the school holidays and Nights Watch Parliament bringing birds of the night into the light fitted perfectly in to their theme so they have invited me to take the show to Queensland and bring the message of these wonderful raptors and their plight to everyone up in Sunshine Coast.
The opening is 29th June, at 3p.m. so everyone is invited to come along if up that way and join in the fun and view the show - there will be hand printed panels 2.3metres long and .6m wide, prints, mixed media, sculptural masks, paintings and drawings which depict the Powerful, Barking, Sooty, Masked and Grass owls.
These wonderful creatures are threatened and raising awareness of these often not seen creatures and their plight will help in their propagation. This exhibition uses art, science, research to highlight the plight of owls and provide information on how to identify them, their habitats and the things that threaten them.
So far Nights Watch Parliament has travelled to the Art House Wyong in 2017, to Cessnock Regional Gallery in April/May 2018 and now onto Queensland in June /July 2018. It is hoped that this exhibition will have the opportunity to travel to Regional NSW as well.
As the show moves around the country new works are being created to add to the show and put new life into it as it travels. The Sooty owl if found in Mary Cairncross so this will no doubt be the star of the show.
Come along and visit Mary Cairncross Rainforest Reserve and the show and should you wish to purchase any of the art work please contact me direct.
