December last year saw attainment and first prize in the Gulgong Art Show. Spurred on by this I have been so busy with creating art and entering group exhibitions and creating sculpture that I have not been active on the web page. This is about to be rectified and hope to add new information as it comes along. This sculpture has been at Kooindah Waters this year. Winged Warriors a tribute to the 135000 pigeons of war that flew against all odds over rugged terrain, through enemy fire and attacked by birds of prey to deliver messages to the allies which ultimately saved thousands of lives. The Dickin Medal the equivalent to the Victoria Cross was awarded to pigeons for their bravery. In this year of centenary of Anzac I wanted our winged warriors to be remembered. I am happy to say that these little birds were noticed in America and are winging their way to settle there in the USA. The Winged Chair evolved it is my vision of the balance of power between humans and the creatures of the air. The wings symbolize the Seraph and as a seat of power and the most high. Wired in Space - we all have a sense of freedom but upon reflection we are all confined by the space we happen to be in at any particular time of the day. With this concept in mind Wired in Space is a metaphor for juxtaposition between movement and virtual freedom. The wires contained within are coloured and are captured at different angles as the sun hits them. Each piece is Kinetic.
