NIGHTS WATCH PARLIAMENT - BRINGING BIRDS OF THE NIGHT INTO THE LIGHT
Cessnock Regional Gallery hosted this show from 28th March to the 6th July - SOLO in 2018 THERESE GABRIEL WILKINS - ARTIST PRINTMAKER/SCULPTOR /PAINTER brings to Cessnock a complete body of work including 5 3metreX.6 hand printed cloth panels, 5 mounted and raised images of owls in flight, 10 miniature portraits, a series of paintings, prints and drawings both graphite and charcoal abd a series of copper coated resin owl masks mounted on wooden rounds.
This body of work is intended to bring to the attention of viewers the owls, Powerful, Barking, Masked, Grass and Sooty Owls. Wildlife Arc Jacky Hunt has contributed to this exhibition with an educational display and a wonderful talk and owl specimens on the 27th April 11-12 for Community. CSIRO Alex Drew have contributed the permission for use of owl sounds throughout the show and John Young Filmmaker has given written permission for Wings of Silence his film which took ten years to create to be show as part of this multisensory exhibition. Cessnock Regional Gallery have provided the venue so that this could be brought to the public arena in Cessnock and for viewers from outlying regions. Gartelmanns wines have kindly provided the refreshments for the opening and Art After Hours.
This is the culmination of a four year project involving research and creation seeing Science and art cojoin to highlight the plight of these threatened species.
