This unique art exhibition features, prints, paintings and mixed media works which feature the Birds of King Island. This exhibition of work was show in the Cultural Centre of King Island at Currie in April /May of 2021 and upon its return will now be featured on the Central Coast. An opportunity for people here to learn a little more about the fauna of King Island a place known widely for its cheese and cream.
King Island once was the home to the now extinct Dwarf Emu who once roamed freely its shores. The King Island Currawong in 2019 when I first was there researching was on the threatened list now it is endangered. The King Island Scrubtit and The King island Brown Thornbill are also endangered.
King Island has opportunities for Birders to go to the island and participate in their annual surveys which are instrumental is keeping records of the all the species and in doing so ensure their survival.
