Waterlines exhibition the annual show for The Makers Central Coast Inc is on at Republik Café and I will be entering four works into that show. These are a combination of monotypes, collograph and a mixed media work. These will be part of a group show by thirteen members of The Makers. The show will go from 7-20th December at the Republik Café and will include sculpture, prints and paintings mixed media works. The official opening is on the 8th December and we are really fortunate to have renowned printmaker Michael Kempson opening the show for us on the 8th from 4-6p.m. It has been a real joy creating these works which for me depict some of the elements, mythology and textures of water in the seabed, in little puddles or rockpools on the foreshore or the mysterious depths of the ocean and the mythology that surrounds it. Pond Life (c) Monoprint - When we look into the water there seems to be lines formed from different shapes and reflections.
Yarramalong Old school came alive with the sounds of artisans from across the coast. Wonderful opportunity to show work in the cottage which is over 100 years old and also to have on display a mangle which is used for printmaking that is also 100 years old. A great adjunct to the prints on display. My own printing press is over 100 years old having come to Australia as a mangle in 1914. It has been engineered so that it has steel drums and a huge flatbed so larger prints can be produced. It weighs a tonne so it stays permanently in the studio I love it . Here are some pictures below of the set up and the works on display. |
