28th March Nights Watch Parliament goes into public viewing with an article published in the Cessnock Advertiser by Krystal Sellars.
Saturday 7th April Nights Watch Parliament opened at 3p.m. by Robert Gillett Head teacher art at Ourimbah Campus. There was a great crowd who all enjoyed the multisensory exhibition with owl sounds reverberating, Wings of Silence being shown and a powerpoint display of the art journey and how it was created.
People came from as far and wide as Sydney Newtown, Central Coast, Karuah and Newcastle. The paintings were popular with three selling on the night and one print. These have gone to Newtown, Richmond, Horsefield Bay and Wyoming with the small owl sculptures remaining in Cessnock.
Sunday the 8th April was Stomp Festival with people from all over coming into view the show and listen to the sounds and view many are showing interest in the owls and the educational display. The Masked Owl woodblock was sold to a member of the Chamber of Commerce Cessnock.
Sunday 15th April the University of NSW social club came for a talk and viewing of the owls, a little boy among the crowd did drawings of the owls while there and all were entranced with the film and displays and the work.
Sunday 15th April at Coast Arts FM96.3 Meredith Gilmore did a twenty minute live to air interview on the show and the plight of the owls which is broadcast all over the Central Coast. Another miniature print of Sooty owls was purchased by member of community Cessnock.
Tuesday 17th April the Chamber of Commerce were given a five minute talk on the Owls the reason for such an exhibition the value of Cessnock Regional Gallery and art as a focus in all communities.
Thursday 19th April CWA from Tilligerry will come to Cessnock as they have been studying owls and wish to learn a lot more it is envisaged this knowledge will lead to the interest of community in the owls and their preservation.
26th April Art After Hours will be an opportunity for members of the community to come and view the work and hear all about the art, the owls and the journey.
27th April Jacky Hunt Wildlife Arc and myself will hold a community session with owl presentation and specimens for everyone to view.
6th May will be the end of the show at Cessnock Regional gallery and the curtain will come down on the show here.
However it will travel once again to Queensland at the end of June to Maleny for the Mary Cairncross Rainforest Reserve for two weeks for their AFTER DARK program during the school holidays. The Sooty owl features in this Rainforest reserve.
The hope is that in time this Exhibition will travel to Regional NSW and possibly into other states in Australia.
